Hey friends,
If you’ve been here for a while, you know this space has always been about nostalgia like pop culture, music, weird and bizarre stories and all the glorious static in between.
Well, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I really want this Substack to be. What makes me hit “publish” with a grin instead of a sigh. And the answer kept coming back to one thing. The 80s & 90s. It’s what I know best.
So starting now, “The Book of Roman” will now be “Be Kind, Rewind” and it’s dialing things in. This will be your neon-soaked mixtape of the decades that gave us synths, Spielberg, shoulder pads, fanny packs, Nirvana, Backstreet Boys and way too much MTV.
It will be:
Deep dives into cult flicks and classic soundtracks.
Personal essays/stories woven into retro memory.
Forgotten TV ads, VHS nightmares, and glam-rock dreams.
Same voice. Same obsession. Just more focused.
For those of you who’ve been reading since the early days, thank you. You’re why I get to do this. I’m not throwing out the old tapes, I’m just curating the collection. This isn’t a pivot. It’s a glow-up. And if you’ve got thoughts? I’d love to hear them. Hit reply or drop a comment. Seriously.
New posts start rolling out this week with a fresh look and sharper stories. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride.
Because the 80s and 90s weren’t just decades, they were a feeling. And we’re just getting started.
Vince
